DAY 01 - ARRIVAL COLOMBO

DAY 02 - UDAWALAWE

After Breakfast leave for Embilipitiya via the Gem city of Ratnapura. Commence an afternoon safarI through the Udawalawe National Park. This Park covers an area of 306 sq.km. There are over 400 Elephants in this park. There are also recorded sightings of leopards: However due to their elusive nature spotting them requires considerable luck and patience. DAY 03 - YALA

Pass through Embilipitiya, a rapidly growing town in Ratnapura. In the 1970s it was a small town with two or three small boutiques. Under the Udawalawe development project, Embilipitiya transformed into a major town showcasing modern architecture. Take a morning drive south to Yala. En Route stop at Elephant Reach Hotel for lunch. Later that afternoon take part in a jeep safari through the Yala National Park. Apart from elephant and leopard you will see other species of animals such as the sloth bear, axis deer or spotted deer, barking deer, mouse deer, toque macaque, mongoose, Lizard, Crocodile, Water Monitors, Tortoises, Turtles and many species of snakes. Yala is also a bird watchers paradise with around 230 residents including migrant and endemic species of birds that have been recorded. Please note the Yala National Park is closed to visitors around September and October, during this period the Yala safari drive will be replaced with a safari drive in the Bundala National Park Dinner and over night stay at Cinnamon Wild Hotel, Yala
DAY 04 - NUWARA ELIYA
After breakfast proceed uphill to one of the trip’s most scenic drives. You stop at Ella, the departure point for mountain hikes. Head for Nuwara Eliya, a township home to rolling hills and spectacular tea plantations. Nuwara Eliya was once a popular holiday spot for British colonials. After lunch enjoy an afternoon sightseeing tour around the city. Over night stay at Heritance Tea Factory
DAY 05 - KANDY
After breakfast leave for Kandy en-route visit a tea plantation & Factory. Arrive at your hotel in Kandy in time for lunch and check in. An optional excursion to a local cultural show with Drummers, Dancers & Fire walkers shows are available for those of you who would like to experience some local entertainment. DAY 06 - PINNAWELA
After breakfast proceed to the Pinnawela Elephants Orphanage. Most of the Elephants in the orphanage are raised to maturity after having been found abandoned or injured in the country’s jungles. After lunch visit the Peradeniya Botanical Garden which was a pleasure garden to Sinhalese Royalty before the British arrived. The Orchid house has probably the largest variety of orchids found in the area. Continue to Kandy & commence a city tour visiting the colourful and busy Market place, the upper lake drive, Gem Museum: where you can view a documentary of how the precious stones are mined, cut & polished. Visit the arts and crafts centre where you can witness the amazing creativity of the craftsmen at work. Visit the famous Dalada Maligawa (Temple of the tooth relic of the Buddha) Overnight at Earl's Regency, Kandy
DAY 07 - AIRPORT
(distance 159 km - 2.30 hour drive) Your tour ends today. You will be dropped at the airport in time to catch your departing flight
