DAY 01: ARRIVAL / NEGOMBO
Our representative will meet and assist you upon your arrival at the airport. Thereafter you will be transferred to a hotel in Negombo. Your estimated time of arrival in Colombo will be around 1:30 am. After you have checked in to your hotel it is best that you try to catch up some sleep. You can do a city tour in the evening.
En route visit Pinnawela Elephant Orphanage. This elephant orphanage was opened in 1975 to house abandoned and wounded elephants, including baby elephants. The number of elephants has increased to more than 40 since then. As a result of the captive breeding programme the orphanage is now caring for baby elephants as well. The best time to visit is from 0930-10:00 hrs and the bathing time from 1000-1030 hrs.
Continue your journey to Habarana. Check in to your hotel and relax for the rest of the day.
DAY 03: HABARANA / SIGIRIYA / VILLAGE VISIT/ HABARANA
After an early breakfast you can start your bicycle ride to Sigiriya, a 5th Century "Fortress in the Sky". You will cycle past the surrounding jungles of Minneriya and small settlements on your way to Sigiriya. Here you will get a glimpse of farming life in the village. After you reach Sigiriya you can commence your climb to the summit of this fortress.
Sigiriya - Sigiriya is a massive rock which was transformed into a fortress during the reign of King Kasyapa. This fortress was abandoned after the King's death and later used as a Buddhist monastery until the 14th century. Sigiriya today is a UNESCO listed World Heritage Site. It is one of the best preserved examples of ancient urban planning. The panoramic view from the top is amazing. After you descend you can quench your thirst with a refreshing drink of coconut water.
Hiriwadunna Village. You will be taken to this village for an enchanting experience. You get a chance to pick your own vegetables from the organic farm and take part in a cooking a typical village meal. The assisting chef will demonstrate a step by step cookery lesson for you. In the evening you can have a bullock cart ride and enjoy some canoeing in the Hiriwadunna lake.
After Breakfast Leave from Habarana and proceed to Dambulla. Visit the largest and well preserved temple in Sri Lanka.You will find some interesting statues and paintings of the Buddha. In total there are 150 Buddha statues, three statues of Sri Lankan kings and four statues of gods and goddesses. Continue your journey to wasgmauwa. En route visit a Spice Garden in Matale.

DAY 05: WASGAMUWA / KNUCKLES
After Breakfast do the safari in Wasgamuwa National Park. This park is home to a huge variety of flora and fauna. Wasgamuwa National Park is a protected area. You will see large herds of elephants and many species of birds. Occasionally you might see a sloth bear. The name Wasgamuwa originated from the sinhala words Walas Gamuwa, meaning Walas ( sloth bear) Gamuwa (Woods). A note worthy feature in this park is the soil component containing quartz and marble.
After the safari proceed to Knuckles mountain range. In the evening you can commence your trek through spice gardens, village farmland, rice fields, tea plantations, pigmy forests and plateaus. At the end of the trail you would be able to swim at a base of a nice waterfall. You might by chance encounter spotted Deer, Barking deer, monkey and jungle Lizards.
After breakfast you will be trekking through a very scenic route about 6 kms to Corbet’s Gap and on the way back you will continue your trek along the river bank. You can relish a cool river bath in the hideout. Spend the evening at leisure.
Go bird watching early morning. Watch a spectacular sunrise and enjoy a traditional canoe ride in the lake. Return to the hotel for breakfast. After breakfast proceed to Kandy. En route you can visit the Muthmari amman Hindu Temple in Matale. A priest will show you the five ceremonial chariots pulled by devotees during religious festivals. Arrive in Kandy. Take a stroll along the lake and watch a cultural dance and fire walking ceremony in the evening.
After breakfast visit the famous Sri Dalada Maligawa or the temple of the tooth relic of the Buddha. (Founded in 1595).This is an historical buddhist temple which was declared a world heritage site by UNESCO. Located in the Royal complex of the former kingdom of Kandy this relic has played a major role in the governance of the kingdom since ancient times. Even today it plays a significant role in local politics because of the belief that whoever holds the relic holds the governance of the Country. Bikkus of two chapters of Malwatta and Asgiriya conduct ceremonial worship in the inner chambers of the temple. Rituals are performed three times daily at dawn, at noon and in the evening. Historical records suggest that Kandy was first established by the Vikramabahu III (1357–1374 CE). It is compulsory to take your shoes off when entering the temple and your attire must be not too revealing as this is a sacred place of worship.
After an early breakfast proceed to Kitulgala. Kithulgala is one of the most scenic locations in Sri Lanka, and is a popular centre for many nature and adventure related activities, the most popular of which is white water rafting. In the evening cycle your way for a visit to the Belilena prehistoric cave and continue your journey to the water rafting site to experience the thrills of rafting in the Kelani river.
After Breakfast transfer to Hatton to get on board the scenic Train to Haputale. The train rides through lush tea estates and thick forests. Amazing scenery. After checking in to your hotel take a walk through a tea plantation and enjoy the beautiful views of the surrounding hills.
After breakfast proceed to Horton Plains and Trek through the mountainous forest and scenic Horton Plains National Park to see the World’s End point and Baker’s waterfall. The park offers the chance to observe five endemic bird species that can be seen only at this altitude including the Sri Lanka Bush Warbler, Dull-Blue flycatcher, Yellow-eared Bulbul, the elusive Sri Lanka Whistling Thrush and the Sri Lanka Wood pigeon. You will be able to spot Sambar deer, the Slender Loris, Bear Monkey and occasionally a Leopard as you walk through this park.
After an early breakfast proceed to Yala. Do a safari in the national wildlife park. Yala National Park has the highest density of leopards living in the wild. This park is the most visited and second largest national park in the Island. Elephants and 44 species of mammals can be seen here. It has one of the highest densities of leopards in the world.
After breakfast board a local bus to a village 30km from Yala. You will experience the peasant way of life in this remote eco - friendly village. After your village visit your chauffeur will take you to the Singaraja forest for the nights stay. This small tropical forest has much to offer. You can trek through thick jungle and enjoy the scenery and tranquility of this place. More than 60% of the trees at Singaraja forest are endemic and many of them are rare. Endemic wildlife, especially birds as well as many kinds of insects, reptiles and rare amphibians are found here.
After an early morning walk through this lush forest proceed to a seaside resort for some fresh air and relaxation. On the way stop at the historic township of Galle and do a city tour of the ramparts by TUK TUK. Galle Fort, in the Bay of Galle, on the south east coast of Sri Lanka, was built first in 1588 by the Portuguese, then extensively fortified by the Dutch during the 17th century. It is an historical, archaeological and architectural heritage fort. Proceed to your hotel in Negombo.
After breakfast do a city tour in Colombo and proceed to the airport in time for your outbound flight. We hope you had a pleasant trip in Sri Lanka.
