Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage, located 13 km northwest of Kegalle towards Kandy, is famous because of the elephant orphanage located in the area. Optional visit to sites within the cultural Triangle (Sigiriya,Dambulla,Polonnaruwa,Anuradhapura). These enchanting sites within the triangle’s boundaries that date back to 4th century B. C.

Dambulla Cave temple, a complex that lies atop a massive hill on the edge of the town is one of the eight UNESCO world heritage sites in the country and is renowned for its unique sculpture and the large mural paintings. Minneriya National Park, is famous for the gathering of large herds of elephants. The ‘Sixth Greatest Wildlife Spectacle of the World’ – the amazing phenomenon of the ‘Minneriya Elephant gathering’ occurs during end of summer.

Spice Garden Today after breakfast proceed to Kandy, en-route visit Spice Garden and visit Temple of Tooth Relic. Check out the many different types of spices produced in Sri Lanka. Do not feel obliged to buy spices from here after you do a guided tour in the garden. Prices could be exorbitant here. But a small purchase from you will keep the locals in employment. The duration of the tour in these gardens is around 20 minutes and there is a 5 minute complimentary massage offered. Tipping is optional. Kandy Next you will visit Kandy, a majour city located in the central province. Kandy was the last remaining Kingdom that fell to the British during colonial occupation. The city is famous for housing the sacred tooth relic of the buddha. Today after breakfast you will visit the Peradeniya Botanical garden. Return for a brief tour of the town of Kandy. In the evening you will attend a Kandyan cultural dance show. The Peradeniya botanical garden was reserved exclusively for Kandyan royalty. After the kingdom came under colonial rule, locals were allowed to visit. You will see a fine collection of orchids, a pathway of royal palms, a beautiful cannonball fruit tree and 40m-high Burma bamboo. Most Museums are closed on Sundays, Mondays and public holidays. Colombo National Museum is open all 7 days a week except on public holidays.

The visits to wildlife parks will be at your own risk. The available jeeps are basic with basic insurance cover (not comprehensive as in the case of the vehicle which is used on the tour)
In the event the road condition is unsuitable for the Tour vehicle to be used during a specific segment of the tour a basic alternate third party vehicle would be provided, no liability or insurance would cover such vehicles.
Poya holidays are observed on the day of each full moon in general, Hindu and Buddhist festivals are declared according to local astronomical observations and it is often only possible to forecast the approximate time of their occurrence. On such days of religious reverence selling alcohol in public is illegal. However at certain hotels the room bars remain accessible.
